New Zealand born pianist/composer Mike Nock is one of the acknowledged masters of jazz in Australia. He is known internationally for his long career, which includes 25 years performing in the USA with the likes of Coleman Hawkins, Yusef Lateef, Dionne Warwick, Michael Brecker and others. He has a formidable and ongoing recorded legacy, including an album on European record giant ECM.
Mike is well known for his jazz piano playing, with a passion and commitment to the jazz tradition and an uncompromising desire to move forward with his own music. In the 1960s Nock was involved with seminal jazz-rock group The Fourth Way, and his compositions have been performed in the classical music world the Cleveland Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Synergy, Michael Kieran Harvey and the New Zealand String Quartet.
Locally, Mike Nock is highly respected for his committment to creative music and to enhancing the Australian jazz community. He has taught at Sydney Conservatorium of Music for many years, and is well known for using younger musicians in his own bands. Each year he is the head judge of the National Jazz Awards in Wangaratta, and ongoing projects including the Big Small Band/’Project’, Mike Nock Trio, C.E.T., solo performances and collaborations have ensured that Mike Nock and his music remains relevant in Australia.
Mike’s current trio includes two of the Waples brothers, Ben and James, originally from Bowral. They have made a huge impact on the Sydney music scene together and individually, and have performed with Triosk, Dale Barlow, Bernie McGann, Mark Isaacs, Gordon Brisker, Judy Bailey, Jackson Harrison, Farfinkel Pugowski, The MFW, Elana Stone and Vince Jones.

Composer, pianist and improviser Andrea Keller is a leading light in Australian Contemporary music. Living in Melbourne, she performs with many ensembles at the forefront of the jazz scene and receives commissions from festivals and musicians throughout Australia.

She has released five CD’s as leader winning her three Aria Awards for Best Jazz Album (2002, 2003 & 2008), 2 Bell Awards for Best Australian Contemporary Jazz Album (2003 , 2008) and was awarded the inaugural MCA/Freedman Foundation Jazz Fellowship (2001).
